Integrated Project Delivery is on everyone's lips these days, and is quickly becoming the new buzzword in the AEC industry. Deeply collaborative delivery processes backed by appropriate legal frameworks do not only make financial sense, but is also a great path to sustainable design and buildings. This is because both IPD and the LEED certification process promotes early stake holder participation. If you are wondering how you can get started on IPD, you are not alone. Not many IPD projects have been completed in the USA, but the ones that have, returned spectacular results. Fortunately, even if you are not planning a full IPD project with appropriate legal contracts, the work-style that it promotes can be directly applied to what is called "IPDish" projects eg. projects that place an emphasis on collaboration. For example, design-build projects exhibit many positive aspects of IPD. To get started, we invite you to take a look at a white paper on Best Practices for Integrated Project Delivery. |
